OMFG!! IT’S A DANCE PARTY MASSACRE!!

I said it before, and I will say it again. Dance Party Massacre is just fresh to death! The über talented designer Alex Dakoulas has brought together a crackpot team of artist for his fall DPM line. The featured artists are AC Bananas, Carey Haider, and Damion Silver and tying their distinct styles together is the overriding concept of the Three Wise Monkeys: See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil. They’ve been calling it their “No Evil Series”, but it can easily be flipped around for the more mischievously inclined. This tight pack comes in place of their Fall release, and I think they are perfect for Halloween! The line features 3 tee designs limited to a run of 50 each, and each order also comes with a sticker pack.

West coast artist, Carey Haider, plays many roles: photographer, animal lover, instigator. He loves taxidermy and refuses to be tied to one medium, delving in fashion design (including his own D.I.Y line Blacktooth), photo shoots and film projects, as well as graphic design. Haider seeks extremes and stimulation. His style, like his influences, is a mélange of fresh and vintage, originality and appropriation, and themes light to serious—humor to death and destruction to genitalia and Mickey Mouse. He took time to answer some questions via email for DPM about his work, tee for the Artist Series, and random prized possessions. When most adolescent boys were playing video games in their basement, Damion Silver knew he was meant for graphic design. At 14 he started a ‘half-assed’ business with friends in his industrial hometown, designing t-shirts to sell at skateboarding contests, and has been freelancing since then. The Connecticut native took the time to have a phone convo with DPM about his contribution to the Artist Series, and how he has become even more business savvy since his pubescent days. A senior designer at Converse, he has also had international success at both street and commercial art. His style is multi-layered, -medium, and –genre in painting, collage, wood, found images, drawing, and glass. Elli Egilsson, a.k.a. AC Bananas, is a self-taught illustrator. Growing up in Reykjavik, Iceland, the son of an artist and flight attendant left the isle in ’08 to get out of a repetitious Groundhog Day-esque rut and moved to the UK, where he’s been collaborating on projects with musicians and producers, creating new typefaces, and drawing monsters and naked ladies, in addition to dating a hot/talented photographer. Tho he claims a penchant for swearing, his vulgarities were occasional in his email interview with DPM on his contribution to the Artist Series.
